Art was excited about the pending birth of a great-granddaughter in May. He is also survived by special friends, Bob Kelley, Joe Szerszen, Jack Saginario, Jay Palmer, George Snell, Dick Peterson, Jerry Potson, along with a host of other friends too numerous to list. Art was a graduate of Southside High School, Class of 1960. After school he enlisted for four years in the U.S. Coast Guard. Art worked for New York State Corrections for a short time before joining the New York State Police on May 6, 1968. He had a nearly thirty year career as a Trooper working most of that time with Troop E, retiring on October 19, 1994. Art was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He had a lifelong love of baseball. Art has been to every Major League ballpark, many with his old buddy Bill and other friends. He was a long time member of the Downtown Athletic Club. After a workout at the club Art and others could be found at Lights Bakery solving the problems of the world. Art's greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. At Art's request there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Elmira on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, 11:00 a.m. Committal prayers and military honors will follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery. The family will provide flowers. Art was a Fellow Trooper, Friend, and Confidant.
Art had a tremendous sense of Humor, and during Bad Times made things Bearable. One of the Best, and Trusted Friends I ever had in my Lifetime.

To Dana and family - I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. He was definitely one of the good guys. I remember when we were kids, at your Grandma's house, he'd point his speed gun on us to see how fast we could ride our bikes down the street! We thought we were so cool. Ha-ha... I'll be praying for you and your family Dana. Losing a parent is such a hard part of this journey. Take Care and God Bless...

Art was as fine a man, and Trooper that I have ever known. Art had a tremendous Dry Sense of Humor. When thing's were at their worst often Art would utter a comment that Broke everyone up and eased the tension.
He is now I hope with the other Grey Rider's camping out at Fiddler's Green.
I am so sad, but I must say " Happy Trial's To You Art Until we meet again." And save a laugh for me.
