To Brother Buddy Fleming and family,
It is not often I meet a couple who truly inspires me as you did twenty years ago when I had the honor of getting to know you both. Marie was strong, determined and yes... outspoken - yet soft and so loving.... I admired her immensely as she was a mentor and a role model to many. She left a legacy behind just as her son did and she will be sorely missed. May Marie Rest In Peace knowing her loving "Buddy" will be well taken care of.

Uncle Buddy and Family,
Aunt Marie was a blessing to so many and will be missed by so many of us. Her kindness, understanding, positive manner and firmness was so full of love. Often she provided me with the balance that I needed as a young person and as I matured. What a blessing she has been in my life and will continue being.
God called her home for her job was done here and what a legacy!
Much Love,
Judi

I had the honor to first meet Mrs. Fleming, at the Ernie Davis Family Center, at an EOP event celebrating Ernie's 65th birthday (12/14/04). I came across the following on the Internet and I know that it made Mr. & Mrs. Fleming real proud.
Later in 1963 when Elmira chose February 3 to celebrate Davis' achievements, President Kennedy sent a telegram, reading:
"Seldom has an athlete been more deserving of such a tribute. Your high standards of performance on the field and off the field, reflect the finest qualities of competition, sportsmanship and citizenship. The nation has bestowed upon you its highest awards for your athletic achievements. It's a privilege for me to address you tonight as an outstanding American, and as a worthy example of our youth. I salute you."
The good lord has reunited Mrs. Fleming & Ernie.

Warm Summer Sun
Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.

"Aunt Marie" - I am so thankfull of the early influence you had upon me and my family when we first moved to Elmira in 1960. Your precious kindness was shared with us all throughout our lives. And most of all, we thank you for being a lifelong friend to Aunt Corrine. You will be missed and we all ask God to bless your soul as he blessed your life.
My prayers,
Buzz

Mrs Fleming must have been a wonderful mother as her son Ernie was an outstanding individual. Ernie and I were teammates at Syracuse University.
