Benjamin Newton Obituary

Benjamin Michael Ben SHS Senior Age 17, of Snowberg Road, Pine City, NY, passed away October 22, 2001 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born April 29, 1984 in Elmira, NY, the son of Timothy E. and Pamela R. (Nickerson) Newton. Ben, as he was affectionately known is survived by his loving parents, Tim and Pam; sister, Elizabeth Elley Newton at home; paternal grandparents, John and Flora Newton of Pine City, NY; maternal grandparents, Mary Nickerson and Don Dickinson of Elmira, NY; Ted Nickerson of Walterboro, SC; great aunt, Anna Nemeth of Elmira, NY; along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Ben was a senior enrolled in the ACE program at Southside High School and was a sergeant-at-arms on the SHS Student Council. He had a great love for history and computers. It was because of his passion for history that he was a Civil War re-enactor. He wanted history to live on. In his spare time he was employed by Tops Friendly Market on South Main Street in Elmira. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Thursday, October 25, 2001 from 5:30 - 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (8 PM) The Reverend William Vallet will officiate. The family will provide their own flowers. Memorial Donations in Ben's name will be directed to honor his love for history. Checks may be made out in his memory to his father, Tim Newton. Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home. A Candle of Memory may be lit in Ben's name at www.olthof.com.
