Bret Boesen Obituary

BOESEN, Bret Alan
Age 49, of Penn Yan, died in an automobile accident on Sunday, August 17, 2008. A memorial service will be announced in days to come. Burial will be private, arranged by the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. An avid reader, historian and story-teller, Bret used his compassion, loyalty, humor, and sense of justice to serve the community through his work as a teacher and most recently as a case manager for Steuben County Community Services in Bath. He was a member of the Middlesex Methodist Church. Bret was a great champion of education and recently ran for a position on the school board in Penn Yan. He graduated from Elmira Southside High School, Williamsport Community College (printing), Corning Community College (business), and he obtained Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Elmira College (teaching). He held membership in Phi Alpha Theta, a national honor society of historians. Bret's passion was making history and literature come to life for his students to help them better understand and participate in their world. A devoted husband, father, son and brother, Bret is missed by his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Karin; parents, Eleanor and Alex Boesen of Pine City; sister, Lisa Boesen; father-in-law, Donald Ebinger; brother-in-law, David Ebinger; as well as extended family, co-workers, and many friends.

My thoughts and prayers go out
to Bret's family and especially to
Elizabeth. Only St. Paul can offer
any kind of response to such losses:
"For I am convinced that neither death, ... nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

May God's Peace be with you all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Boesen family. Such a tragic loss. I was in Mr. Boesen's English class at Prattsburgh Central in 2004. He was a very brilliant man with so much to share. He will be remembered for all of his great stories.

To "Mother & Father" Boesen, Lisa, and Elizabeth & Karin, My heart just breaks thinking of the pain you all are in right now. I have such good memories of all the time I spent with Bret, Lisa, & Parni growing up in Pine City and our days at Broadway School and Southside High...I feel grateful and Blessed to have those, especially now. My God bring you Peace, and may your memories, and love from friends and family, bring you comfort now and always.
Much love, from me and my family,
~ "Moggy" ():-)
