ARNOLD, Camilla Tyler Lowman
1925 - 2008
Age 83, of Westminster West, VT, passed away on July 8, after a period of illness surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff at Eden Park Nursing Home in Brattleboro, VT. Camilla was born on January 19, 1925 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Camilla Bryan and Abner Marshall Lowman. She attended local schools in Elmira, and in 1945 she graduated from Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. She married William Randolph Arnold on October 29, 1952 at Grace Episcopal Church in Elmira, NY. For many years Camilla lived in Greenwich Village in New York City with her husband, Bill, before they relocated to Westminster West, VT in 1959. Camilla retired from The Experiment in International Living in 1987, where she had worked for many years at the original campus in Putney, VT, and later at the Brattleboro campus. Camilla was an avid flower gardener and horticulturist and enjoyed music, especially classic jazz. Camilla was known for her great sense of humor and quick wit. Camilla leaves her loving family, her husband, Bill of Westminster West; her sons, William A. L. Arnold of Brattleboro, and Marshall F. Arnold of Chicago, IL; her daughter, Camilla Elizabeth Arnold of Westminster West; her stepson, Randolph M. Arnold and his wife, Linda of Waterbury Center, VT; her grandson, Kyle Arnold of Burlington, VT. She is also survived by a niece, Carole Parker of Tuftonborough, NH; and three nephews, Ron, Peter and Steve Lowman of Elmira, NY. She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, George Lowman and Marshall (Rip) Lowman. Funeral Notice: At her request, Camilla's ashes will be interred in the Westminster West, VT cemetery at the convenience of the family. The service will be given by Rev. Thomas Brown of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Brattleboro, VT, from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer.
