Carl Ruland Obituary

Carl J. Age 72, of Erin and formerly of Levittown, PA, passed away after a brief illness Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. His surviving family includes his loving wife of over 44 years, Joan (Tyskewicz) Ruland; their children, Carl J. Ruland of Garden City, CA, Joan (Mark) Smith of Levittown, PA, Daniel F. (Jean Manning) Ruland of Beaver Dams, NY, Shawn (Jennifer) Ruland of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Carl, Jessica, Katy and Amy Ruland, Mark, Thomas, and Bradford Smith, Zachary and Jesse Ruland, Jacob and Abigail Ruland; sister-in-law, Ann Ruland of Long Beach, CA; several nieces and nephews. Carl was also predeceased by his sister, Norma, and brother, Henry. He was born October 23, 1931, the son of the late Carl and Helen (Northime) Ruland in Philadelphia, PA. A resident of both Levittown, PA and locally in Erin, Carl was retired machinist with Westinghouse Corp. Carl was a communicant of St. Peter and Paul's Church in Elmira and as a veteran of the US Army, he was also a member of the American Legion Capt. Clarence Oliver Post #154 in Elmira Heights. Friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St. Horseheads on Monday, December 29, 2003 from 6 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Peter & Paul's Church 161 High St. Elmira on Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. with The Rev. Pat Connor, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads.
