GRACE, Charles William
"Bill"
Longtime Chemung resident died at the Ira Davenport Hospital in Bath, NY, on November 19, 2007. He was born on January 11, 1915. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Ward and Mabel Grace; wife, Kathryn (Parks) Grace; and brothers-in-law, Don and Ivan Parks. He was especially proud of his 40 years of service to the town of Chemung in the roles that included: Assessor, Highway Superintendent, Councilman and Supervisor. Bill also operated a dairy farm and was a long-term member of the Chemung Methodist Church, Grange, Masons, and Farm Bureau. He currently is a member of the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church. Bill is survived by sons, James (Vicki) Grace of Bath and Thomas (Paulette) Grace of Livingston, NJ; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jeff) Grossman of New City, NY, Susan (Eric) Larson of Waverly, NY, and Jeffrey Grace of Livingston, NJ; great-grandsons, Jacob Grossman and Hayden Larson; sister-in-law, Shirley Parks; and a niece and nephews and their families. Family and friends are welcome to call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, and again from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2007, at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc., 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. The funeral service to honor Bill's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday with his Pastor, Rev. Daniel Pickering and Rev. James Carr officiating. Burial will follow the funeral in Chemung Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Fred & Harriett Taylor Health Center's Activity Department, 5451 Rt. 54, Bath, NY 14810; or to the Chemung Methodist Church, 5369 Main St., Chemung, NY 14825. I remember Bill When I was growing up as the man driving the Town of Chemung pick up. I remember my granddad working for him. May he rest in peace and may the lord bless all of you.
