Charles K. Age 75, of 1065 Martin Hill Road, Corning, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 7, 2001. Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Christina; daughters: Elizabeth I. Markiewicz, Elmira and Loretta H. Richards, Elmira; 4 Grandchildren: Robert J. Richards VI, Elmira, Christina M. McConnell, Tuscarora, NY, Kimberly Matkosky, Ft. Polk, LA, Stephanie L. Richards, Elmira; 3 Great-grandchildren, Trevor, Amber & Brandon McConnell of Tuscarora; Brother, Michael (Carol) Markiewicz, NYC, Sisters: Genia (Zygmund) Sadowski, NYC, Pauline Czyz, Bath, NY & Irene (Stanley) Mlodynia, VA; Many Nieces, Nephews & cousins including beloved nieces Mary Ann Wolfe & Jane Loysch: Father-in-law: Felix Ostrowski: Sisters-in-law: Maria (Robert) Finucane, Helena (Carl) Alden, Angela (Frank ) Deery; Brothers-in-law: Stanley Ostrowski, Conrad (Dorothy) Ostrowski. Pre-deceased by parents, Ignacz & Maria Markiewicz, brother, Adam & sisters, Frances & Antoinette. Charles was a communicant of St. Casimir's Church, Elmira, a self-employed farmer & the last 15 years worked in the family business with his wife, Southern Tier Upholstering in Corning. He was a member of the Dairymen's League, White Eagles Club, Polish Arts Club, The American Congress of Polish Culture, Polish Center, Washington, DC, and was an avid outdoors man & Baseball Fan. Those wishing may make a Memorial donation in Charles' name to St. Casimir's Church, Southern Tier Hospice or the Polish Arts Club of Elmira. Family will receive Relatives & Friends at the Kalec Funeral Home, Friday, November 9, 2-4 & 6-9 PM. Prayer service there Saturday, 8:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Casimir's Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
