Dear Carl, Steve, Lisa, Kelly, Spouses, and children-

We grieve with you over the tremendous loss of your wife/mother. Cheryl was an amazing woman. Her patient encouragement and strong faith were a testament to the character of this amazing woman. I learned much from her example and cherished her friendship. I am truly a better person because of the life of Cheryl. How comforting to know that she will live on in each of her children and grandchildren. Continue to make her proud as you follow her wonderful example. You will all be in our prayers at this terribly difficult time.

Carl and family, We are so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Matteson was a beautiful women. It is amazing how much she has inspired our lives. She was not just a teacher she was more than that. She was always there to help, to push u through, her words of wisdom will always be with us and take us far in life. We are so thankful to have been a part of having her in our lives. We will always remember and love her. One day she told us that she couldn't be sad that she was fighting cancer, she was thankful that she got to watch her children grow up, that she couldn't ask for anything more out of life. What an amazingly strong women. Most can only hope to be that grateful and brave. She loves you all and is so proud of you. She will be in our hearts forever more. You are in our thoughts.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. Mrs. Matteson was a remarkable woman that we all loved and respected greatly. She always had a smile and took the time to talk to each of us. I can't tell you how comforting that was when I was a new student at WHS. Take comfort in the good times and wonderful memories you have. They last a lifetime and will always make you smile.

I will always remember Mrs. Matteson as a very funny woman who is the only reason I passed math. She always had a smile on her face, unless you even dared mention watermelon gum/candy. I had her for a study hall period once and we would talk all the time. My fondest memory of her is once she was telling us how she loved the song "I'm Gonna Be" by the Proclaimers and started singing it in the back of Mrs. Fry's room. She will be very much missed and my heart goes out to her family.

December 8, 2009

Carl and family,
I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Matteson's passing. I have fond memories of her, whether it be as my teacher, one of my kids' teachers, or as a fellow employee at WHS. She always had a smile, and we talked about grandchildren when I was expecting my first one and how happy she was! She will surely be missed by all that knew her, but our loss is Heaven's gain. May God comfort you all.

She touched so many lives. No matter how she was feeling she always wanted to make sure that everything was okay for the other person. To the Matteson Family, accept my deepest sympathies, Mrs. Matteson was a wonderful woman! She was one of if not my favorite teacher while attending WHS! She will be missed dearly. However the memories will live on in each of you. My fondest memory besides the fact that she was a remarkable woman and teacher was her dislike of watermelon gum or candy.
