Chester Skizim Obituary

SKIZIM,
Chester Vincent

Age 89, of Vero Beach, FL died Saturday, July 19, 2008, after an extended illness, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Skizim was born in Throop, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Eleanore, moved to Elmira in 1958 where they raised their family and lived for almost 45 years before re-locating to Vero Beach in 2002. Prior to retirement, Mr. Skizim was an accomplished goldsmith, avid reader and gardener. He was a member of St. Patrick's and Our Lady of Lourdes Churches in Elmira. Mr. Skizim was also a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Marine Corps. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Eleanore of Vero Beach; two sons, Gregory (Loren) of Rochester, NY and Daniel (Martha) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Nicholas, Meg and Elena; three brothers, Walter of Vero Beach, FL, Anthony of Alexandria, VA and Lawrence of Shallotte, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, John and Paul; and a sister, Josephine. A memorial service and Mass will be celebrated at a later date in Vero Beach at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church. Condolences may be sent through www.seawindsfh.com/obit.php.

Linda and I send our sincerest sympathy and our thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you find comfort in knowing just how much you meant to Chet. I will always remember all that he taught me. Chet was one of a kind.
