Dale Van Sickle Obituary
Dale A. Age 58 of E. Renovo, died suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, July 24. He was born in Renovo on August 16, 1943, a son of the late Alvin C. Van Sickle and Julia V. (Adomaitis) Van SIckle of North Bend. Dale retired from Consolidated Gas Co. in 1999 as a supervisor after 27 years service. He had also previously worked at Piper Aircraft and also on offshore gas drilling rigs. Dales was Pentecostal by faith and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a loving father and grandfather and an avid supporter of his home community all his life. His local involvements included President of the Bucktail Medical Center Board, life member of the Marine Corps Rifle Association, American Legion, life member of Elks Lodge, Ducks Unlimited, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Moose Lodge, Cross Fork Sportsman Club, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 40/8 Club of Lock Haven, Saquoit Fish and Game Club, W. Clinton Co. Sportsmans Association, life member of United Sportsman of PA, deer feeding club in Tamarack, Toys for Tots Christmas Campaign, avid Flaming Foilage volunteer, sponsored Home Run awards and trophy for youth baseball, loved traveling, hunting, and fishing, especially since his retirement. Several years ago, Dale was awarded the Key to the City for his community spirit and support. Surviving him are his special companion, Kathleen Many; sons, Dale A. Van Sickle, Jr of York, Bill Many, Jr. of Booneville; and stepsons, Bruce Cox of Lawrenceville, PA; daughters, Crystal (Mark) Peters of York, Kim (Bill) Skerpon of Sayre, and Christine (Scott) Gehringer of New Hartford, NY; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Sarah and Mark Peters, Sarah and Nichols Skerpon and Adam and Andy Gehringer. Also surviving are sisters; Burma R. Calaman of York and Darlene M. Mill os Midway, GA; brother, Terry Van Sickle of York and numerous nieces and nephews. One brother, Melvin, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo, PA at 10:00 AM. Friday with Rev. Mahlon Nevel officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with full military services conducted by the Marine Corps League. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM. Thursday. Masonic services at 8:45 PM. Thursday. Memorials are requested to the Bucktail Medical Center Expansion Fund in Dale's memory.
