Daniel Reed Obituary

Daniel K. Age 74 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2003 at Bethany Manor surrounded by loved ones. Dan was born on April 29, 1928 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John E. & Regina I. Lilly Reed. He was a Biology and an Earth Science teacher at the Elmira City School District. He also served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Dan received a B.S. Degree at Duquesne University in 1952. Mr. Reed was predeceased by his wife, Marie A. Heppy Reed, on August 28, 1969; and his brother, John (Jay) Reed on July 18, 2001. He was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY. Survivors include his daughters, Joanne (Daniel) Neumire, Jr. of Montour Falls, NY and Susie (Reed) Maloney of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Danielle Wolcott, Nicole Wolcott, and Courtney Neumire; sisters, Louise Sindall of Bel Air, MD and Nancy (Robert) J. Golden of Baldwinsville, NY; several loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grand-nephews and a host of friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Van Buskirk-Lynch Funeral Home, Mill St. and Grand Central Ave., Horseheads, NY on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home immediately following with Chaplin Dave Martin officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at 12 noon. Dan deeply loved his family and was known for his wonderful gift to be able to live life to its fullest. He also genuinely loved and was loved by the Skilled Nursing Unit 1 staff at Bethany Manor and the family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of them for their compassionate loving care.
