Daniel H. Simpson

SIMPSON, Daniel H.
Age 82, of Big Flats, NY, formerly of Horseheads, NY. He was born January 9, 1926 in Dickson, PA, son of the late William and Ellen (French) Simpson, and passed away Friday, April 4, 2008, at home after an extended illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann in 1980; and sister, Ellen Simpson; and is survived by his children, James D. Simpson of NC, William R. Simpson of Endicott, NY, and Nancy S. Simpson of Horseheads; beloved granddaughter, Maureen A. Hughes of Horseheads. Dan was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church. He was a veteran of WWII, a member of the American Legion Post 1612, Big Flats, and the Knights of Columbus Council 229. Dan was a well known area home builder, having built many homes in the Orchard Knoll subdivision in Horseheads. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira, on Monday, April 7th, from 5 to 7 p.m. Prayers will be offered there on Tuesday, April 8th, at 9:15 a.m., followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Our Mother Church. Rev. Christopher Linsler, Celebrant. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Dan through donations to Southern Tier Hospice & Palliative Care or St. Mary Our Mother Church.
