Dora Stratton Obituary
Dora J. Stratton, 84, of Lawrenceville, PA passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY. Born May 23, 1928 in Thurston, NY, she is the daughter of the late Frank and Olive (Vose) Messenger. Dora was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, gardening, crafting and rummage sales. Dora is survived by her daughter, Shirley Stratton - Rogers of Elkland, PA, daughter and son-in-law, Sue and PJ Downes of Vienna, VA; her sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Marge Stratton of Rindge, New Hampshire, Timothy and Shelley Stratton of Addison, NY, Jim and Lisa Stratton of Mansfield, PA and like-a-son Dale and Cindy Stratton of Kodiak, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 2000, her son, Carl Jr. in 1972 and several brothers and sisters. Family will receive friends at the Kenyon Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Elkland, PA on Thursday, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dorothy Densmore officiating. Burial will follow in Baxter Cemetery, Tuscarora Twp., NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. I admired and loved my Aunt Dora very much. She was an amazing woman -- generous, kind, honest, productive, hard-working. And she had a terrific sense of humor!!! I miss her and can still hear her voice ring out --

My prayers are with you all at this sad time.
My memories of your folks living next door to my grandparents, and of a time I stayed with your family for a short time (I don't remember why) I think it was in the summer of 1962, are all happy memories.

Shirley, Larry, Tim, Jimmy, Sue & Families, So sad to hear about your mom. She was a blessing to know and my memories of her, going to Bingo, our walks and talks will be cherished always. Thinking of you all and hope you find comfort in knowing that she is wrapped in the arms of Jesus.
