Gerald Schneider Obituary

Dr. Gerald P. Veteran of WWII & Korea Age 78 of Beckwith Road, Pine City. Tuesday, October 3, 2000 after a brief illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the convenience of the family in Our Lady of Lourdes Church followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Saturday, October 14, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jeremiah Moynihan, celebrant. The family will provide their flowers. Remembrances may be directed to the Arctic League; 114 W. Second Street; P.O. Box 113; Elmira, N.Y. 14902, or one's favorite charity. Arrangements by Smith-Fudge-Marshall Funeral Home. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Patricia, in 1998. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, and their children. Michael and Isabel Schneider and their children Eileen Francis and Marabel of Rochester and Mark and Julie Schneider and their son Matthew of Pine City. Dr. Schneider was an Eagle Scout, was a veteran of both WWII in the Navy and the Korean Conflict in the Air Force. He was in private practice in Elmira 1954 - 1990, when he joined the staff of the Bath VA Hospital from 1990 - 1999. He was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians; American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians. He was recipient of the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce Community Builders Award and had enjoyed belonging to the Elmira City Club, Elmira Country Club, Fur, Fin and Feathers, Inc., Civil Air Patrol.
