Janet Cunningham Obituary

Janet Walker Passed away on December 5, 2003 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. Janet Walker Cunningham was born in Boston, MA, on January 24, 1915, daughter of the late Major and Mrs. Albert F. Walker (Isabel Frost). Also preceding her in death were her husband, James William Cunningham; her sons, James Walker Cunningham and Little Brother; her sister, Alice Taylor Walker; her brothers, Robert Frost Walker and Aubrey Cushman Walker; and her son-in-law, Warren Dennis Reppert. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Phillips (Richard) and Wendy Reppert; granddaughters, Alexandra DeRoberts, Cassandra Chaffee and Chandra Phillips; her grandson, Evan Reppert; her great-granddaughter, Isabel DeRoberts; great-grandsons, Sebastian, Ambrose, Blaise and Jesse DeRoberts and Samuel, Nathaniel and Elijah Chaffee; and many dear friends. Mrs. Cunningham was retired from Cotton-Hanlon where she headed the Home-Furnishings Dept. for 24 years. She attended the Methodist and Wesleyan Churches, was a past regent of the DAR, a trustee of the Highland Cemetery Assoc., a member of the Schuyler County Historical Society, and an accomplished pianist who often played for weddings and church services and entertained regularly at the Falls Home. She was a descendent of Joseph Frost, a Revolutionary War veteran from Fairfield, Connecticut, who brought his family to the area of NYS that became Schuyler County around 1800. Mrs. Cunningham resided at "Maplehurst" on Frost Hill. Honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a private graveside memorial service at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Schuyler County Historical Society, P.O. Box 651, Montour Falls, NY 14865 in Mrs. Cunningham's name.
