Jean absolutely loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren & as the years went on her great grandchildren. ALL family & the friends & total strangers who became family too!! She looked forward to the family reunions they had, getting to see everyone, spend time catching up ..Going to or having her rummage sales, decorating for all the holidays..canning foods from their garden with her husband Don.. Travel was another love of hers. Be it for one of the clubs activities or a short trip to the casinos. Then there was outlet shopping!! She'd show all the great deals she found & bought. Especially the red, white & blue clothing to wear to club activities.!! Jean was not afraid to show her love of country ! When it came to activities, she was all in. I remember when she helped out Meals on Wheels, getting an award for her help. She was so humbled. Spoke of""I was just doing what they asked of me, to help out" How she loved her people & they, along with their families loved her back. I remember when I married into the family, working in the medical field, many of the same clients when they found out she was related would then tell me how she helped them with basics of getting a healthy , hot or cold meal. What they appreciated the most was she talked WITH them, not to or down to them! Jean also took the time to make their day brighter with small gestures or items to light up their day be it a small pin for their dress, deck of cards or just taking the time to check on them by asking "How is your day today?" I have pictures of her speaking with her grandbabies, actually listening to them. She had that gift with kids for sure !! Jean also looked out for herself & her hubby by trying to prepare, teach him about healthy eating choices. She was all into healthy choices long before it was a ""thing"" I remember when she had other health issues come her way, was'nt a one of them that she let slow or stop her! She tried her best to instill this in others also , to OK, have a boohoo.. take a deep breath,,lean all you can about what needs to be done, changed to fight /manage whatever health change had come her way..She even fought this last challenge, until her mind said, enough..you've had a long, full life, it's now time for you to rest. May all who she touched , stop & remember all the ways she worked at helping, then go forward doing the same to honor & remember her by doing the same. While enjoying life & what it brings forth. Special red, white & blue salute to Jean for all her support she gave the troops & their families thru her many years of work at the clubs local, state & national levels. Jean, may you now rest in peace. Don & family, May you all find peace & comfort in sharing memories of Jean thru the years.
