Jeanette Stephno

Jeanette (Corp) Stephno, age 88, of Watkins Glen, NY, peacefully passed away at the Seneca View Nursing Home on Saturday, December 18, 2010, with the love and support of her family. Born on April 11, 1922 in Batavia, NY, she was daughter to the late Cyrus and Frances (Cacner) Stephno. After graduation, she continued her education to pursue a degree in nursing at the Wyoming County Community Hospital School of Nursing in Warsaw, NY and began her career as a Registered Nurse at Genesee Memorial Hospital. She later accepted a position at Schuyler Hospital and remained there until her retirement. She married Joseph D. Stephno and shared a devoted and blessed union until his passing in July of 1997. She was an active parishioner of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen. Jeanette is survived by loving daughter, Jennifer (Dennis) Nichols; and her beloved granddaughters, Megan and Laura Nichols; as well as her brother, Richard Corp. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Anna Stephno; and her brothers-in-law, Tony Stephno and Charles Davis; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Hunt; her sisters-in-law, Nellie Davis, Ange Stephno, and Mary Turner; and her brother-in-law, Leslie Turner. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, located on N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Paul Bonacci celebrating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.
