Dear Calabucci family , I was saddened to read of your Dad's passing. I have very fond memories of the visits to the lake house and their Elmira home as a child. My parents enjoyed the times they spent with your family. Your dad was a very sweet, kind, positive, loving man and a wonderful father. Even as a child (playing with Suzie at the lake), he was always kind to me. And we weren't always that well behaved as i remember. The church service today was very beautiful. A great remembrance for a great guy.

My dear sister and the whole Calabucci family, Joe has always been more than a brother-in-law to me, he was a brother, a friend, a mentor and a father figure. He would always help and let me help him with our places at Keuka Lake, especially when he rescued my boat when it sank. after the third time he said no more. Joe was a prince of a man. I will miss him and I thank God he was in my life.

Mary and family,
Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers as you gather to pay tribute to one of the best men we ever had the privilege to know and call friend. We know Joe was as Italian as you can get but we think he won't mind the following Irish prayer:
May the road rise up to meet you,
may the wind be always at your back,
may the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields and
until we meet again may God hold you in the
palm of His hand.
Fair winds and following seas.
Rest in peace, Marine.

THE OLD BREED...
Few earn the title "United States Marine".
Once earned they are a "Marine Forever"...
When they die, their Honor Clean, they appear before Heavens Gates, and see two signs, Eternal Peace and Marines...
The Marine follows a path to a Quonset Hut, knocks three times and enters...
Inside are two Marines, Colonel Lewis B. Puller and Sergeant Major Dan Daly...
The SgtMaj., hands the Marine a quill pen and bottle of red black ink, with which he signs his name to the duty roster...
After signing the Marines Heavenly Robes fade, replaced by standard Marine Corps issue...
The Marine smiles and does a right face out the hatch to the Yellow Footprints to muster as The USMC Old Glory Division...
The Marines purpose is clear, to fight the forces of evil for all eternity under the command of the Ultimate Commander-In-Chief, GOD ALMIGHTY...
"By The Grace Of God,
And A Few Marines,
It's Good To be Home"...
Semper Fi. Joe...
"The Old Breed"...

Joe was quite a guy. I remember a conversation we had many years ago about WWII. He kind of nonchalantly said, "Ya know, D-Day was a one-time thing (referring to the war in the European Theater). I can't tell you how many beachheads we invaded day after day" referring to the time he served with the Marines in the Pacific Theater during the same war. He wasn't bragging though. He was just sharing some thoughts.
I'll always remember him and Mary postponing their yearly trip back to Florida after Thanksgiving 2003 so they could attend my wedding. Good times. RIP Joe!
