Joseph Horsey Obituary
Age 91, of Elmira, NY, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 1, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Joseph was born July 6, 1917 in Mardela Springs, MD, to the late George and Danie (Goslee) Horsey. He served in the United States Army during WWII and retired from Corning, Inc. After retiring he was employed at Weis Market for 10 years. He was predeceased by his brother, George "Ace" Horsey; twin sister, Louise'; sisters, Epluribus Roberts and Geneva Parker. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Pauline; daughter, Joann (James) Bryant of Elmira; sons, Joseph (Debra) Horsey, Jr. of Horseheads and Clifford Horsey of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Nikkol (Jasper) Chiguma of Binghamton, NY, Iman Horsey of Arcata, CA, Maria Horsey of Sacramento, CA, and Quinton Parrow of Horseheads; great-grandchildren, Jasper Chiguma, Jr. and Miranda Chiguma, both of Binghamton, NY; Goddaughter, Lisa (Dempsey) Barnes of Japan; brother, Richard (Maggie) Horsey of Elmira; sister, Isabella Horsey of Philadelphia, PA; sisters-in-law, Mary Horsey of Elmira, Beatrice Welcome of Los Angeles, CA, and Cleyon (Harry) Lee of Vineland, NJ; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira, on Thursday, August 7th, from 7 to 9 p.m. His funeral service will be held Friday, August 8th, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Missionary Baptist Church, 402 Sullivan St., Elmira. Rev. Johnny Vaughn will officiate. Committal prayers and interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
