Joseph Tafaro Obituary

Joseph C. Age 82 of 320 Old Ithaca Road Horseheads, NY passed away on Monday July 2, 2001 at Elcor Nursing Home. Mr. Tafaro was born October 6, 1918 in Newark, New Jersey the son of the late Sebastiano and Anna Connors Tafaro. Joe was a disabled veteran of WW II serving his country with The U.S. Army Air Corps . He was a First Lieutenant and was a bomber pilot flying B 24's with The 33rd Bomber Squadron and 22nd Bomb Group. Mr. Tafaro was a decorated veteran receiving The Silver Star, The Distinguished Flying Cross, a Purple Heart, Air Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, and The New York State Medal of Honor. Joe was a life-time member of The Disabled War Veterans and a member of The Clarence R. Oliver American Legion Post # 154 in Elmira, Heights, NY. He was a retired production management supervisor of quality control for The Ann Page Plant in Horseheads, NY. He married his wife Annis Lewis Rodabaugh Tafaro on August 14, 1965 and they would have celebrated their 36th Wedding Annivversary on August 14, 2001. Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife Annis Lewis Rodabaugh Tafaro; daughter and son-in-law: Joann & Don Aronson of Tucson, AZ; 3 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; sister: Ann Cox of Middletown, NY; sister-in-law: Doris Lewis of Breinigsville, PA; several nieces, nephews, and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Van Buskirk-Lynch Funeral Home Mill St. & Grand Central Ave. Horseheads,NY on Wednesday July 4, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-8 PM. Mr. Tafaro's Funeral and Committal Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. The Rev. Dr. Robert O. Sherburne will officiate. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY.
