Kevin Sample Obituary
Kevin R. Age 50, of Mountainbrow Terrace, Corning, passed away very unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 9, 2006. He is survived by his wife of nearly 13 years and best friend, Stephanie (Melisko) Sample; sons and daughter, Jeremy Sample of Antioch, TN, Shaun Sample of Elmira, NY, and Shannon Sample, also of Elmira, NY; granddaughter, Jhaniah; parents, Dick and Pat Sample of Big Flats, NY; brother, Timothy Sample of Big Flats, NY; sister, Susan (Joseph) Strong of Elmira, NY; father-in-law, Edward Melisko of Horseheads, NY; also predeceasing was his mother-in-law, Shirley Melisko; several nieces, nephews and many close and caring friends and neighbors. Kevin was raised in Horseheads and a graduate of Horseheads High School, Class of 1974. He received his doctorate in Hypnotherapy from Concordia University and was currently in study for his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. During his studies, Kevin was employed as a hearing specialist and regional manager for the Miracle Ear in Corning, NY. In his younger years, he was involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. While raising his sons, he was also a Scoutmaster and Little League Baseball coach. He loved music and was a talented musician who always loved to entertain family and friends on his guitar. In High School he was involved with Celebrate Life Christian Rock Band. He was an avid reader and published author of two books. Above all else he was devoted to his family. Kevin was also the owner of Windows to the Mind Hypnotherapy Clinic in Corning, having assisted hundreds of people as well as training several others to become hypnotherapists. A confessed and born again Christian, Kevin put his faith in the Lord; the love he extended his family will be missed but not forgotten. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, on Saturday, January 13, 2007, from 1-3:00 p.m. and again from 5-7:00 p.m. His service will follow calling hours there at 7:00 p.m. Those wishing may express their sympathy with memorials to Chemung County Humane Society, SPCA 2535 St., Rt. 352, Elmira, NY 14903.
