Michele Gordon Obituary

Michele A. Age 50, of 488 Thomas Rd., died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at home surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous ten year battle with breast cancer. She was born in Horseheads, daughter of William A. Tunis and the late Ruth Vincent Tunis. Michelle was employed as a beloved teachers assistant with the Ithaca City School District for the past 16 years. She was vice president of the Ithaca Paraprofessionals and was a member of the Ellis Hollow Methodist Church. In addition to her father, Michele is survived by her husband of 24 years, Douglas R. Gordon; and her son, Calvin D. Gordon, both of Ithaca; her brothers, William E. Tunis of Horseheads, and Bruce C. Tunis of Los Angeles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Michele's life will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2004, at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Church, 306 N. Aurora St., Ithaca, with Rev. E. Carolyn Byrne officiating. Private burial will be delayed until spring. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michele's memory may be made to either Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850, or to the Ithaca Breast Cancer Alliance, 100 W. Seneca St., Ithaca, NY 14850. Arrangements are by the Bangs Funeral Home.
