Patricia Howland Obituary
Passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 28, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. Patty was born to Walter and Josephine Babarski Klein in Elmira on April 4, 1948. She was raised in Horseheads and graduated from Horseheads High School in 1966 and Corning Community College in 1968. She was employed by Evans Service Company, Inc. (Evans Roofing) where she was an executive administrative assistant for 43 years. Patty married her husband Ken in 1979 at the Horseheads First Methodist Church. Ken and Pat were married for 32 wonderful years and devoted to each other. They were fortunate to enjoy traveling, cruising, boating, motorcycling and 30 wonderful years at Clute Park. Patty loved her cats. You may have seen her around town in her blue Z4 sporting her "MEEOOW" license plates. Patty belonged to the American Legion Aux. Post 442 and the American Legion Riders Chapter 442 both in Horseheads. She also was very involved with the Horseheads Class of '66 Reunion Committee. Patty is survived by her husband, Kenneth W. Howland; three brothers, Robert (Judy) Klein, Richard (Nancy) Klein and Roger Klein, all of Horseheads; one sister, Nancy Klein of Austin, TX; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Ron) Spall of TN, Gloria Rowe of NC, and Patricia Rathbun of Horseheads; brothers-in-law, Don (Amy) Howland and Jerry (Sandy) Howland; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and special nieces, Trina and Terri Lynn. Pat felt blessed to have so many friends and family, especially their extended family at Clute Park including her dear friends, Dottie, Brenda, Mary and Deb. Family and friends will be received at Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 12 noon to 3 p.m. A service to celebrate Patty's life will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. W.Thomas Blackall officiating. The family will have a private committal service at their convenience at Maple Grove Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Bob, Dick and Roger Klein (brothers) and friends Dick Shellenberger, Marvin Densmore and Garey Stout. The family will provide flowers. Those wishing to remember Pat's memory can make donations to SPCA, 2435 St. Route 235, Elmira, NY 14903, Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care, 11751 East Corning Rd., Corning, NY 14830 or a charity of your choice.
