Pearl H. Baker, age 87 of the Green Home, Wellsboro and formerly of Westfield went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 27, 2015. Born December 21, 1927 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hazel Tackman. Pearl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was affectionately called "Mom Baker" during her years of employment at the Cowanesque Valley High School where she served as study hall monitor. She was active in her community as a member of the United Methodist Church of Westfield, as well as other local groups and organizations, including the Eastern Star. A life-long Republican, Pearl also served for many years on the Republican Committee. She loved life and her family and enjoyed playing pinochle and bridge. She cherished the many friends and acquaintances she made throughout her life. Pearl is survived by her three children, Brick Baker of Gainesville, FL, Clair (Doris) Baker of Bantam, CT and Representative Matt (Brenda) Baker of Wellsboro; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair R. Baker, Sr. after 64 years of marriage and her daughter, Kathleen Baker. Calling hours will be held at the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro on Wednesday, 10:00 - 11:00 AM with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM, Rev. Eugene Charsky and Rev. Kristi Webster officiating. Interment will be in the Champlin Cemetery, Westfield.
