Richard Tahirak Obituary

A long time resident of the Caton community passed away at home Tuesday evening, November 16th, under the loving care of his wife and children at the age of 64.Born on April 30, 1946 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Rick was the son of the late Michael and Mary Meszaros Tahirak.He attended Rutgers University, graduated from RCA Institutes in New York City and received a degree from Elmira College.
In serving his country Rick was enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve for seven years as an Aviation Electronics Technician, First Class. He married Joanne M. Moses on June 28, 1969 at St. Patrick's Church in Corning.In 2002 Rick retired from Corning Inc. after 36 years of employment as a project manager.Rick took great pride in his home, his farm and his surroundings. His many interests included scuba diving, golf, snowmobiling, skeet shooting, hunting and an occasional trip to the casino. He is survived by his wife Joanne; his son Jason M. Tahirak of Caton; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Alden Leeman Jr. of Orr's Island, Maine; his brother Michael F. and Barbara Tahirak of Etowah, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
In honor of his wishes there will be no services.
