Life Long Member of the Southport Community
"Bob", Age 85, of Manchester Rd., Pine City, NY, passed away Wednesday, September 17th, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, friend, and companion of 60 years, Donna Grinnell Manchester; along with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral and committal services will take place in the Webb Mills United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 21st, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at the conclusion of the funeral services in the Webb Mills Cemetery. The Reverend Richard Elliott will officiate. To honor Bob's personal sacrifice to our country, Full Military Honors will be accorded at his graveside. Bob, you will always be missed. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in Bob Manchester's name to the Chemung Valley Farm Museum, Webb Mills United Methodist Church or E.J. Brewer Marine Corp League.

Thank you for contributing to my childhood. The herding of cows, milking cows, walks up the hill, the huge holiday dinners, the fireplace, and especially fishing for bass in your pond to stock in ours. I will never forget the friendship and hospitality.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It was both an honor and a pleasure to have had the opportunity to spend time with "Granddad" on Peaceful Mountain. He taught me a great deal about life, the beauty of love, farming, and the importance of family. There is a quote that states, "The legacy of a hero is the memory of his great name, and the inheritance of his great example." May "Granddad's" legacy live on - today, tomorrow, always.
