Roy Schoonover

Roy Charles Age 71, of RR #1, Tioga, PA, formerly of Elkland, PA, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2002 at Corning Hospital, Corning, NY. He was born November 15, 1931 in Elkland, PA, the son of James & Mary Spencer Schoonover. He retired from Corning Inc. and also worked for the Elkland Leather Company. He pitched for the Elkland Merchants Fast-Pitch Softball Team for many years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Jean Schoonover; son, Roy Vargeson, Westfield, PA; step-son, Gordon Duff, Elkland, PA; brother, William Schoonover, Elkland, PA; best friends Don & Evelyn Miles, Elkland, PA; and Denny & Janice Bliss, Tioga, PA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Artie Schoonover, and a step-son, David Duff. There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 2:00 PM, at the Kenyon Funeral Home, Inc. #214 West Main Street, Elkland, PA, Rev. Larry O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Elkland, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the Elkland Softball Association, Inc., #413 Stadium Street, Elkland, PA 16920, in Roy's memory. Kenyon Elkland Logo
