Sandra Boom Obituary
Age 71 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday July 10, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Sandy was born on July 31, 1941 the daughter of the late Edward H. Scriven and Susie A. Leonard Scriven. She was a graduate of Horseheads High School. Sandra married her husband, Donald R. Boom, on February 3, 1959 and they recently celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary. Sandra was pre-deceased by her father Edward H. Scriven on August 1, 1982, her mother Susie A. Leonard Scriven on June 1 , 2005, her brother Gilbert "Joe" Scriven in 1999, her brother Jerry Scriven on November 14, 2005 and by her sister Priscilla Kincaid Skorczewski on February 29, 2008. Sandy loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Sandra is survived by her husband Donald R. Boom; sisters and brothers-in-law: Sally & Fred Brownell of Hahira, Georgia and Cheryl & Raymond Ball of Beaver Dams, NY; brothers and sisters-in-law: Warren "Spike" & Dawn Scriven of Beaver Dams, NY, Neil "Shorty" & Kristen Scriven of Beaver Dams, NY, Connie (Mrs. Jerry) Scriven of Hahira, Georgia, Dick & Candy Clark of Binghamton, NY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Edward Boom and Ila (Mrs. Lee) Williams both of Horseheads, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends including her niece and Goddaughter Melissa Meade. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Tuesday July 16, 2013 from 10 AM to 12 Noon. Sandra's Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at the conclusion of calling hours with James Radford officiating. Sandra will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY. The family will provide their own flowers and those wishing may remember Sandy through memorials to The American Diabetes Foundation.

so sorry for your loss. every time I saw sandy in tops where I work I gave her a big hug. so glad I did, I have that hug she gave me back just a couple months ago. she will be missed. may god bless.

I have so many special memories of Sandi growing up. I spent countless time at their house she and her siblings were like the brothers and sisters I didn't have until I was 12. I know there were 2 special ladies right there to welcome her in Heaven. Jackie Manning

Ila, Don and family,
We were shocked to hear of Sandy's passing. We will always cherish the fun get togethers with "the gang"- to for dinner for all birthdays, and whenever else the mood struck. It won't be the same without her being there physically- but we know that she will be there none the less-laughing with her whole being. She will be missed, and we can't tell you how sorry we are for your great loss. Please be gentle with yourselves- and know that others really do care and wish there were words to change things-but we know we can't.

It had been 20 yrs since I have been to NY to visit family. My father, Frank Crain loved visiting our family and the reunions for catching up, love and laughter. Sandi was a great lady, I worked w her for years @ Tops! She would also go out to din w the us girls! She brought us in some cookies for Valentines day! I will miss her smiling face!

What a sad sad day....I used to "help" Sandy with chores in the barn when I was about 4 years old. I loved following her around and asking a million questions. She was a very fun person and I am so glad that my husband and boys were lucky enough to also know her. My mom and dad always talked about Sandy and Don. We have great memories in our family that include her. I will miss the annual Christmas cards with her special "notes" inside. She was the FUNNIEST lady I've ever met! Now she resides in heaven with MANY special people (that includes her family, my parents/ grandparents and many more.) What a huge celebration they are probably having). My condolences go out to Don and the rest of Sandy's family. Until we see her again. Sam
