Vincent Gilbert Obituary

Gilbert, Vincent D.

Horseheads: Age 53, passed away peacefully at Corning Hospital on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Vince was a son of the late Henry W. and Marian (Lloyd) Gilbert. He was also predeceased by his brother Eric Gilbert. He is survived by his wife Sherry Gilbert with her two children Joseph and Terri; daughter Erica Ryan; sister and brother-in-law Rae Jean and Ray Willette with their children, Nahdeen, Rebecca, Mallary and Tiffany; nieces (Eric's daughters) Chelsie and Jordannmarie; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Vince attended Horseheads High School. He was a "Jack of all trades" and he had a great love for flying. Most of all he loved his dogs Sammy and Izzy. Vince was employed with Sikorsky up until its closing. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St. Elmira, on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning. The Gilbert family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Buffy and Cindy on 2C at Corning Hospital and to Care First for the loving care and support provided to Vince and his family.

To Vince's family, I am sorry for your loss. Vince was such a pleasure to work with, he had that one of a kind smile and laugh that were both infectious. "Jack of all Trades" sums him up best, he was an asset to the 38 project at Schweizer/Sikorsky. May you find comfort in the days ahead and may your memories sustain you. There is no doubt that Vince is flying high above us.
