Vincent Link Obituary

LINK, Vincent F.
Age 83, formerly of Elmira, died at the Bath VA on Saturday, July 12, 2008. Vincent was born June 17, 1925, the son of Frank and Josephine Mezza Link. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Edna Strong Link; daughter Lori Link of Plano, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Alex Lorenz of Walnut Creek, CA; step-son Zane Palmer with his wife Penny of Elmira Heights and their son Skip (Ali) Palmer of Buffalo; step-daughter Barbara Sawyer of Elmira with her son Andrew (Morgan) Sawyer of Long Island; aunt Mary Malanoski of Rome, NY; niece Diane Lorenz of Boulder, CO; nephew Gregory Lorenz of Berkley, CA; mother-in-law Ida Bates of Elmira Heights; sister-in-law Virginia Bailey of Elmira; along with several cousins. Vincent was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. After his military service he attended Clarkson University, earning his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering. Vincent then went on to Buffalo University where re received his Masters Degree in electrical engineering. He retired after 35 years of service with Westinghouse. Vincent enjoyed being outdoors whether going for walks, gardening, hunting, fishing or playing a round of golf. He had a love for jazz music, playing it on the piano. There will be no services. Arrangements by McInerny Funeral Home. Donations in Vincent's memory may be directed to a charity of one's choice. The Link family would like to extend their thanks to the 2nd floor nursing unit at the Bath VA Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided to Vincent over the last 3 ½ years.
