Walter E. Sr. Of Pine City, NY Age 58 of Orchard Park Road. Monday July 3, 2000 at home surrounded by the family he loved so much. Walter was the son of the late Grace and Walter Swank. He was born in Rochester, NY on February 6, 1942. Surviving Walt is his beloved wife of 37 years Itylene C. Swank of Pine City, NY. Loving sons and daughters in law; Walter (Pamela) Swank Jr. of Wellsburg, NY, Scott (Nancy) Swank of Elmira, NY; Timothy (Heather) Swank of Wellsburg, NY; Justin Swank of Pine City, NY. Eight wonderful grandchildren; Zachary Swank, Raelyn Swank, Ryan Swank, Rachael Swank, Katelyn Swank, Nicolas Swank, Joshua Edwards, Dustin Taylor. Loving brothers, Fred (Marie) Swank of Horseheads, NY, Arthur Alcott (Beth) Swank of Seneca, SC. Loving sister Shirley (Tom) Dean of Wellsburg, NY. Beloved aunt and uncle John and Ruby Tice of Elmira Heights, NY. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 6th, 2000, 2pm to 6pm at the Hand in Hand Free Methodists Church, 390 Warnick Street, Elmira, NY 14901 (Across from the Woodlawn National Cemetery). Funeral services will be held at the conclusion of the calling hours at 6:00 pm. The Rev. James Payne will officiate. Graveside services will be held at the Forest lawn Memorial Park Friday, July 7th, 2000 at 10:00am. Walt was a valued stockroom clerk at R.K.B. Enterprises for 37 years. He always had a deep connection with his family and his church The Hand in Hand Free Methodist Church. He was very involved with the inner workings of his church, serving active positions as church trustee, church delegate, Christian Education Director, and Head usher. Walt also loved children. He and his wife Itylene opened their hearts and their home to more than three hundred foster children. Providing them with a very loving safe place to sleep. Being the father of three boys he knew the importance for structure and love in young adults. He was very proud to serve as Cub Master for pack#9 and pack#38 of Chemung County for many years receiving the Silver and Bronze statue. His family and friends will remember him as a very loving husband, wonderful father, and grandfather who was an avid fan of NASCAR, great bowler serving on many area leagues. He is and will be missed by many. Memorials may be made in Walter's name to the Building Fund, of the Hand in Hand Free Methodist Church, 390 Warnick Street, Elmira, NY 14901.
