William Cook Obituary

William David Cookie of Lawrenceville, PA, died Tuesday, January 21, 2003, at his home. He was born March 29, 1930, in Ansonia, PA, a son of the late George W. Cook and Iola Esther (Horton) Cramer. Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris I (Burrows) Cook; his son, William R. Cook of Lawrenceville; daughters, Iola Sis Regan of Lawrenceville; Cheryl Pruner of Lucernemines, PA; Dianna Shrout; Debra Wheller and son-in-law, Bradley Wheeler of Lawrenceville. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren; Roger Cook of Elkland, PA; Michael and Jennie Regan; Madox and Bronson Mosher; all of Lawrenceville and Sara Pruner, Lucernemines, PA; sister, Rose Bosser of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Lyle Cook of Coopers Plains, NY; Joseph VanZile of Painted Post, NY; Donald Cramer of Lindley, NY; step-brother; Gary Cramer of Lawrenceville. Bill is also survived by his special family members; William Regan, Lawrenceville; Tom Pruner, Creekside, PA; Sue Stratton, Addison, NY; and close friend, Richard Fenstermacher, Lawrenceville. Bill was preceded in death by brother George B. Cook; stepbrother George Cramer; grandson, Thomas Cook; and best friend and brother-in-law, Roy Tice. Bill served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1951 to 1953. He retired from Corning, Inc. in 1991 with 45 years of service as a platinumsmith in the Precious Metal Department. He was a lifetime member of the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fireman's Association, and an avid sportsman and member of the Twin Tiers Vintage Car Club. Friends are invited to call at the Scureman Funeral Home, Inc. 130 S. Main Street, Mansfield, PA on Friday, January 24, 2003 from 4-6 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 6PM immediately following visitation. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Lawrenceville Firemen's Association.
