Winifred Held Folger

FOLGER, Winifred Held
Age 88, and longtime resident of Riverside, CA, and formerly of E. Franklin St., Horseheads, passed away quietly on Oct. 3, 2007. She was born in Elmira, NY, the daughter to the late George and Lela (Hungerford) Dostman. Winifred was predeceased by her husbands, Clifford Held of Horseheads, NY, and E. C. "Pete" Folger of Riverside, CA. She was also predeceased by her former husband, H. Spurgeon Moss. Her surviving family includes her daughters, Lucinda Moss Terwilliger of Lowman, NY, Connie Moss Mays of Rainbow Valley, CO, Lee St. John (AKA Bonnie Held) of Riverside, CA; three grandsons, granddaughters-in-law, two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving are a brother, George Dostman of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law, Betty Dostman of Spencerport, NY. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Charles (Marge) Dostman, Ralph (Bea) Dostman, Danny Dostman; and sister-in-law, Anne Dostman. Locally she was a graduate of Breesport High School and former employee of Westinghouse Corp. In California she was also member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a lifetime member of the Society of Military Widows and a volunteer at the Riverside California Kaiser Hospital for 20 years. Her passions were playing bridge and rooting for the Anaheim Angels. She was a strong, loyal, comical and loving woman whose family meant everything to her. She will be profoundly missed, but will always remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Riverside, CA, where she will be remembered Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at their Sunday Morning Worship. Locally, burial services will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery.
