Barbara Ellen Dege Cordrey

1942 - 2018

SEAFORD, Del. - Barbara Ellen Dege Cordrey of Seaford passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at her home. She was 76 years old.
She was born on July 14, 1942 in Seaford, the daughter of the late John August Dege Sr. and Catherine Mae Massey Dege. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James Hackett Cordrey on Sept. 4, 2006.
Barbara attended Seaford High School. She was a cafeteria manager for Dorchester County Schools and retired in 2006 after 30 years of service. She was a faithful member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Barbara loved being a farm wife, working with her flowers, going to yard sales, and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by two children: James Lee Cordrey and his wife Betsy, of Seaford; Catherine Ann Scott and her husband Larry, of Cokesbury, MD; five grandchildren: Casey Lee Wheedleton and her husband Charles Matthew; Amber Lyn Cook and her husband Damien; Justin James Cordrey; Macey Lee Cordrey and her fiancee' Robert Coulbourne; Jenna Leigh Lees and her husband James; six great grandchildren: Lilyanne Mae Wheedleton, Bailee Grace Halderman, Rilee Mae Cordrey, James Roger Wheedleton, Jace Matthew Wheedleton, Allison Dee Rose Coulbourne; and a great-granddaughter to arrive in February; siblings: Judy Passwaters and her husband David, of Milford; John August Dege Jr. and his wife Carol, of West Chester, PA; Howard Dege and his wife Linda, of Woodland; and caregivers: Sue Banos, Kara Jones, Christina West; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, with Pastor William Wheatley and Phillip Wheatley officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will follow at Cokesbury Cemetery.
