Barbara Sanders Obituary

Barbara Lore Sanders of Preston passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Shore Health Medical Center - Easton. She was 88 years old.

She was born on June 19, 1936 in Calvert County, Maryland the daughter of the late William Preston Lore and Verna Naomi Bafford.

She graduated from Calvert County High School in 1954 and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. She married James William Sanders, Jr. on September 12, 1959. Barbara was a teacher of Home Economics at Colonel Richardson High School.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children Carole S. Gurney and her husband Donald; and Kimberly S. Ryan and her husband Patrick; four grandchildren Brandon Gurney, Loren Ann Heaps, Robert M. Heaps, Jr., and Jordan Ryan; and four great-grandchildren Grayson Gurney, Graham Gurney, Addison Heaps, and Makenzie Heaps.

She was preceded in death by a son Scott Preston Sanders.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 16 at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg at 12:00 pm. A public visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bethesda Methodist Church, PO Box 147, Preston, MD 21655
