D. Marie Vogel

D. Marie Vogel, 83, of Hurlock passed away on Thursday February 26, 2026 at her home. She was born in Whitman on July 4, 1942 and was a daughter of the late Richard and Hilda Phillips Ratcliffe.

She attended schools in North Dorchester High School. On April 19, 1959, she married Karl H. Vogel. In her earlier years, she worked at Williamsburg Canning House and later she was a house wife. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, and crossword.

She is survived by her husband Karl H. Vogel, Sr. of Hurlock, two sons Phillip D. Vogel and wife Lorrine of Duncannon, PA and William M. Vogel and wife Julie of Hurlock, ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mrs. Vogel is preceded in death by a son Karl H. Vogel, Jr., three brothers Richard Ratcliffe, Jr., Anthony "Tony" Ratcliffe, and Donald Ratcliffe, two sisters Joyce Merritt and Barbara Stewart and a sister in law Eva Williamson.

Pallbearers will be William Vogel, Jr., Quincy Vogel, Noah Smith, Chuck Hatler, Richard Merritt and John Ratcliffe.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Gary Hickman officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, 21802.
