John Wade Leonard

John Wade Leonard, 72, of Preston, MD passed away unexpectedly at home on June 26, 2025. Born on Nov 11, 1952, in Easton MD, to the late Ridgeway Leonard & Jeanette Miles Leonard. Wade grew up on a farm on Royal Oak creating his own adventures with his 4 brothers and 1 sister. Wade graduated from St. Michael's High School, where he participated in cross country. Immediately after high school he began driving trucks for Weems Brothers, which cultivated a more than 50-year professional trucking career with Crown Cork & Seal and CW Transport.

Wade married the love of his life, Robin Drue Cheezum in August of 1973, after courting her while working her high school job at Windy's. Together they raised two sons, Bryan & Kevin. They created many memories and friendships together along the way until her untimely passing in 1995 of breast cancer.

Wade was a selfless and simple man. He always put others before himself, and his big heart for the people around him will not be forgotten.

Wade is preceded in death by his late wife, Robin Leonard, his parents Ridgeway & Jeanette Miles Leonard, brothers Ridgeway, Tom, and Fred. He is survived by his son Bryan and his wife Tracey, son Kevin and his wife Harley, brother Bruce and his wife Deborah, and sister Jenny. He was blessed to be a grandfather to Carter Leonard, Olivia Leonard and Saylor Lednum.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 3 pm - 5 pm at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home in Easton, MD. A service will follow the next day, Monday at 10am. Burial will take place at Spring Hill Cemetery.
