Michael Hiner Obituary
Born in Baltimore on August 24, 1957, Mike was the son of Lawrence Edward Hiner Jr. and Dorothy Agnes (Gamble) Hiner. He attended Sts. Joseph Elementary School in Timonium and graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul High School in Easton in 1975. Mike continued his education at Chesapeake College and earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College.
On January 14, 1977, Mike married the love of his life, Terri (Sump) Hiner. He began his career in construction at Easton Wholesale and Tidewater Building Supply before joining Willow Construction, where he dedicated nearly 45 years of service. Mike served as President from 1996 through 2024 and most recently guided the company as Pre-Construction Executive. His leadership, integrity, and commitment left a lasting mark on the company and the community.
In addition to his professional life, Mike was deeply devoted to his faith. He was ordained as a Lutheran Deacon and served faithfully at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cordova, Maryland.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Terri; their children, Michael Anne, Justin (Erica), and Corey Fisher; and four cherished grandsons, Cody, Lucas, Bradley, and Graham. He is also survived by his brother, Lawrence Hiner III (Cherie) and his brothers-in-law, Mark Sump (Vicki) and Darian Sump (Holly), along with many family members and dear friends who loved him deeply.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 1210 South Washington Street, Easton, Maryland. Family and friends may visit on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Easton, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michael S. Hiner Fund, a component fund of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, 102 E. Dover Street, Easton, MD 21601.
