Virgil R. Klepper Sr.

1942 - 2025

Virgil R. Klepper, Sr., 82, passed away on October 19, 2025. Born in Bulls Gap, Tennessee on December 19, 1942, to Mary Long Klepper and William Starks Klepper, he was the eldest of four children.

He graduated from Bridgwater College in Virginia and became a teacher. He was recruited to teach on the Eastern Shore and moved to Kent Island. He taught at Stevensville Middle School where he met Mary Rossbach, whom he married in 1968. Virgil earned his Master's degree from East Tennessee State University. He taught science at Queen Anne's County High School until he retired in 1985. For 25 years Virgil was a local Washington Post distributor in Kent and Queen Anne's counties. He retired and moved to Delaware in 2006 and then moved to Centreville in 2022.

Virgil enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching baseball, listening to bluegrass music and traveling to fairs and festivals on the Eastern Shore. He especially loved spending time with family and watching his grandchildren in their sports and activities.

Virgil is survived by his children Mary, Virgil, Jr. (Susan), Christina Morazes (Nicholas), and Regina; three grandchildren: Chase, Riley, and Addison; his siblings, Karlene Ely (Gordell), Eugene (Joyce) and Jake (Judy) and their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Rossbach Klepper.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 12 noon at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Centreville, where friends and family may visit at 11 AM that day. Burial will be private.
