Willard Griffith Obituary
Born July 21, 1952, in Milford, DE., Sarge was the son of the late Willard L. Griffith Sr. and Betsy Ann Taylor Griffith.
He was a graduate of North Caroline High School class of 1970.
On August 31, 1970 Sarge enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he proudly served until his Honorable Discharge on August 30, 1976.
Sarge was a skilled carpenter by trade. He enjoyed working in his shop making anything and everything out of wood, from treasured jewelry boxes to custom cabinets.
He was a member and past president of the Choptank Muzzleloaders and even built several of the muzzleloaders he used in competition.
Sarge was known for his gardening and each year supplied an assortment of veggies for family and friends. He was also known for his collection of jigsaw puzzles which he completed, built frames for and often gave as gifts.
If you knew Sarge, it was no secret he enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing and especially deer hunting, using the .50 cal muzzleloader he built himself. He enjoyed several trips to Colorado and Washington, camping and elk hunting. He was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. He enjoyed tailgating at his shop on Sundays, where he'd watch the Ravens and have a "few" beers with friends.
Sarge is survived by his sister Debra Holt of Smyrna, DE, brother John Griffith (Shelly) of Denton, niece Danielle Hurd (Randy) of Federalsburg, nephew Quinn Griffith (Meredith) of Denton, great nieces Raelynn and Reese Hurd, great nephew Rory Griffith, "A Special Princess" Kassidy Shinski and friends that loved him like family.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jerry Holt.
A private service will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.
A Party like Sarge would want will be held in his Honor at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive Easton, MD 21601.
