Christopher William Pearson
September 13, 1970 - September 10, 2025
We pause at this time to recognize the life of a good and generous man. Christopher William Pearson passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2025, in Easton, Md. He was within a few days of his 55th birthday.
Born in Culpeper, Va., on September 13, 1970, Christopher grew up in Jeffersonton as the son of public school educators. At a young age, Christopher acquired a love of the countryside, animals, discipline and hard work, sports, and bourbon from his father - and a love of French, literature and poetry, travel, music, and a sophisticated palate from his mother. His parents' childhood term of endearment for Christopher was "Beau". Whether running cross country or wrestling, reading novels or writing papers, Christopher was always a quick and bright student, with an inquisitive mind and gregarious nature. After shaking his father's hand on stage at graduation from Culpeper County High School in 1988, Christopher attended the University of Virginia, majoring in English. Upon graduation from UVA in 1992, Christopher taught Special Education and English at the Alternative Education program in Culpeper County Public Schools for several years.
In 1996, Christopher joined the United States Army and proudly served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. Christopher's father, Bill, always admired Christopher's military service, although he would often ask why Christopher wanted to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Christopher always credited his English degree and his military service with opening doors and making connections throughout his professional life.
At the conclusion of his service with the 82nd Airborne, Christopher began a life-long career with all aspects of computers. After a year with Loudoun County Public Schools, Christopher was employed briefly as a civilian government contractor, but then quickly moved into the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) at the United States Postal Service. During his 25 year career with the federal government, Christopher worked his way up through numerous roles in the USPS Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), including Director of Operations and Director of IT Security. He was promoted to Deputy Assistant Inspector General (DAIG) three years ago.
Although Christopher was passionate about his work, he frequently joked he would have to hurt the family if he told us too much about it. (That was OK, because the family didn't really understand what he was talking about anyway!) As the heart of the CIO team, Christopher found joy in lifting others up, and he had a remarkable way of improving the work of others without ever making anyone feel small. Christopher's colleagues remember him most for his unlimited and unquestioning willingness to help, in any situation.
Outside of work, Christopher enjoyed 22 years with his devoted husband, Roman. Together Christopher and Roman traveled the world, entertained local and international friends, visited and supported the family, and spent time biking and relaxing at the beach. Christopher also enjoyed cooking, hot sauces, playing with his cats, weekly phone calls with his father, and farm life.
Christopher's generous nature, wide ranging sense of humor, infectious laughter, and humble demeanor were matched only by his tremendous capacity for love. He always placed the needs of others before himself, and Christopher was loved immensely by his family, friends, and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.
Christopher was predeceased by his parents, W. William Pearson III and Nancy Simpson Pearson; aunt and uncle, Carolyn Pearson Currin and Roger Currin; Aunt Carolyn Simpson Bassett, Aunt Catherine Simpson; and adopted family member, Sunny Armel.
Christopher is survived by his husband, Roman Corpuz; sister and brother-in-law, Carrie Pearson Siegfried and Robert Siegfried; and stepmother Kelley Armel Pearson. Additional survivors include loving aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, and second cousins; as well as dear friend, Fabian Reyes Oseguera; and cats Socks and Mittens. Christopher also leaves behind many cherished friends and a large circle of co-workers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Pepper's Grill, in Culpeper, Va. As is the Pearson way, funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Christopher's name to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, 4101 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, Va. 22304,
