Robert Engstrom Obituary
December 25, 1936 - November 9, 2024
Robert (Bob) John Engstrom, 87, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, in Culpeper, VA. He was born on Christmas Day in 1936 to the late Harold John Engstrom and Janet Dow McLachlan Bird in Hartsdale, NY.
He graduated from White Plains High School and the College of Wooster. He earned an MBA from Georgia State University.
Bob was a dedicated family man, loyal friend, and successful business leader. From a young age, he was a pillar of his community, always giving back and enriching the lives of those around him with unwavering generosity and commitment. Over the years he served as an active sponsor with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, a volunteer at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, an NYO softball coach, and a founding member of Les Marmitons Sandy Springs. With a deep passion for history and an abiding love for America, he advocated to improve the greater Atlanta area through service on the Fulton County Housing Authority and was a key driver in the successful incorporation of the city of Sandy Springs. He had a deep connection to Scotland where his mother was born and is survived by many relatives in the United Kingdom. He is a shining example of the American dream based on his mother and grandfather and their journey to our nation. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew him.
Bob is survived by his children, Robert John Engstrom, Jr. (Celina) and Amanda Engstrom Eversole (Eric); and his grandchildren, Robert Parker, Sofia, Eleanor and Elizabeth. He also leaves behind many cherished friends and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 115 N. East Street, Culpeper, VA.
