October 24, 1954 - October 14, 2025
Robert Allen Saunders, 70, of Edinburg, Va., and formerly from Culpeper, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday October 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Heishman Funeral Service in Woodstock. The burial will be held following the service at 2 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper, Va. The family will receive friends Monday, October 20, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert was born October 24, 1954, in Schuyler, Va., son of the late Marvin Fortune and Helen Mae Barefoot Saunders. He was a maintenance mechanic for Merillat and served in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Saunders.
Robert is survived by his wife, Penny Suzanne Ferguson Saunders; son, Beau Saunders (Amy) of Charlottesville, Va.; daughter, Emily Saunders and partner Jaime of Meadows of Dan, Va.; stepdaughters, Leslie Eldredge (Steven) of Durham, N.C., and Michelle Cuccherini (Tom) of Culpeper, Va.; sister, Maxine Saunders; brothers, Howard Saunders, Marvin Saunders, Harold Saunders, and Billy Saunders; and grandchildren, Alyssa Nevaeh Saunders, Izabella Grace Saunders, Elizabeth Marie Carter, Gabriel James Finnagan Helms, Luna Mae Josephine Helms, Thomas Gregor Cuccherini, and Collin Michael Cuccherini.
His calm, comforting presence will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
