Ruth Ann Bastian Skaggs
Ruth Ann was born July 26, 1936 and died March 21, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. Skaggs; her parents, Charles and Lola Bastian; her brother, Charles Bastian; her sister, Mildred Koons; and her son-in-law, John David Bass.
Ruth Ann is survived by two daughters, Sherry Bass (John David) and Lori Cunningham (Bill); her grandchildren; Jennifer Keller (Nick), Kelley Holton (Ryan); Will Cunningham (Virginia); Cody Cunningham (Liz); eight great grandchildren and one brother, Roy Bastian.
Early in her married life, Ruth Ann worked to help her husband through his college career. Later, she assisted him with aspects of his pharmacy. Ruth Ann later returned to the workforce. She was a credit to her employers at both Higdon Groceries and Pride.
She was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. Ruth Ann was a talented seamstress; making everything from clothing to elaborate curtains. Her ability to cook or bake anything from scratch was phenomenal. Ruth Ann was also the epitome of organization and for those who knew her well, here sense of humor was always delightful.
She had a love for her family that was unsurpassed. Included in the family were many precious dachshunds. Outside of family, Ruth Ann had a large circle of friends. Some of these friendships began in elementary school and continued her entire life. She loved to travel, and she cherished trips with family and friends.
Ruth Ann gave of herself generously; working on projects from home repair to gardening in order to help others. She found ways to make positive impacts on those around her.
A time of remembrance will be held on Saturday, March 27,2021 in the McAlpin Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. EST until 6:00 p.m. EST.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Ruth Ann to the American Heart Association (National Center,7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231).
