Carole Boice Obituary

Carole "Ann" Boice (Rogers) October 14, 1941 - March 11, 2023 Ann was born in Emporia, Kansas, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959. She met Ray and married in September, 1960. She attended Peru State College to complete her teaching degree with honors in 1971. Ann taught English Language Arts grades 5th-8th at Haig School, a rural country school, for 26 years. Other working roles include being a librarian, hospital volunteer, coordinator for Meals on Wheels, PEO member for 50 years, and an election volunteer. Her lifelong love of reading continued, and she enjoyed attending a book club, the Bookies in Omaha. She began reading in 2010 at Radio Talking Books of Nebraska for those who are unable to read and completed 30+ books. Ann loved music and was gifted to play the piano, baritone, and violin. She taught piano lessons and accompanied when she could. In recent years she played violin with the Fiddle Chicks. Besides her love for family and friends, she loved her kitties, cooking, and gardening. Ann and Ray lived in Hayes, KS, Shenandoah, and LeMars, Iowa, Nebraska City, then moved to Gering for 38 years, and have been in Omaha since 2010 to present. Survived by her husband Ray; son Matthew (Cheryl) Boice; daughter Amy Houlton (Terry); grandchildren: Colter Boice (fiancé Mandy Cormaci), Samantha (Austin) Martin, and Sophie St.Amour. Preceded in death by her sister Helen Russell, sister Pat Archer, and parents Enid and James Rogers. Donations in memory can be made to Radio Talking Book Service of Nebraska. [email protected]

Mrs. Boice was a caring and pleasant teacher. Country schools were a unique experience, as we had the opportunity to be in Mrs. Boice's class from 5th through 8th grade. God Bless the Boice family.

I´m so sorry for your loss. I did not know her but I know she raised a wonderful son. My mother passed away last year in January and I miss her very day. Nothing can surpass the loss of a Mother. God bless you.

Such a caring person. I had the honor to know Ann and Ray while taking care of their kitties when they lived in Gering. We had some good conversations about life. She was a wonderful person. My Prayers and thoughts are with the family.
