David Hernandez Obituary

David Lee Hernandez, 33, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away peacefully with family and caregivers by his side on July 29, 2025, at 3:19 p.m. at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado.

A celebration of life gathering will take place at Scotts Bluff Country Club on September 6 at 2 p.m. David Lee was cremated.

David Lee was born on Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, August 30, 1991, to parents Maria Medy Hernandez Odling and Paul Norberto Hernandez. In 1992, David Lee, his parents and his two older brothers, Derek Joseph Hernandez and Brian Anthony Hernandez, moved to the United States, where his parents later welcomed two more children, Kimberly Jean Hernandez and Brandon Paul Hernandez, in Scottsbluff.

David Lee split the final years of his life at his hometown in Nebraska and at his second home in Waco, Texas, primarily with his loving mom, his stepdad Eric Roy Odling, his stepbrother Austin Hawk Odling and other loved ones who will miss him dearly.

David Lee graduated from Scottsbluff High School and went on to work in the construction, roofing and prosthetic industries in Nebraska, Arizona and Texas, with his final job at Bay Area Prosthetics.

Named after rocker David Lee Roth, he found joy playing cover songs on guitar, writing original music, mastering video games, flirting with strangers, giving himself tattoos, making funny faces and eating his mom's Filipino food.

In his final months, David Lee enjoyed riding his electric scooter, watching TikTok compilation videos while wearing his heated vest, going on road trips with his mom and stepdad, eating Hostess Ding Dongs for good luck before gambling on slot machines, having mini shopping sprees at gas stations, dancing with his mom on a cruise ship, tagging along for golf rounds with relatives and applying for his passport.

His family attended his famous namesake David Lee Roth's concert on what would have been his 34th birthday.

David Lee is survived by his mom Maria; dad Paul; stepdad Eric; siblings Derek, Brian, Kimberly, Brandon and Austin; the siblings' significant others Kelly, Bret, Olivia and Angel as well as their kids Barron, Olive, Nori, Caiden and Cameron.

He is also survived by his aunts Almira, Christine, Debbie, Florence, Mary Jean, Modesta and Myra; uncles Alman, Craig, Dennis, Jon and Randy; many cousins and other loved ones.

David Lee was preceded in death on his mom's side by Regie Vargas, John Denver Vargas, Jean Vargas, Antonio Vargas and Margaret De La Vega.

He was also preceded in death on his dad's side by Mary Livermont, Augustine Livermont, Richard Hernandez, Chris Hernandez, Augustina Rivera and Joe Hernandez.
