Doris MacDonald Obituary

Doris Mae Dickinson MacDonald

August 8, 1955 - June 18, 2025

Doris Mae Dickinson MacDonald lit up the world from the moment she arrived on August 8, 1955, born to "Bertie" and "Gerry" Dickinson in Scottsbluff, NE. On June 18, 2025, we said goodbye to her bold, beautiful light.

Doris was a true original, a spitfire with a heart of gold. Fiery, sparky, and spunky to her core, she had a gift for making everyone feel like they were home.

She graduated from Morrill High School in 1973 and Chadron State College in 1977. In 1979, she married David MacDonald. Together they raised three children whom she loved with all her heart.

Whether cracking a sharp joke, fighting fiercely for those she loved, or offering a warm meal and listening ear, Doris made an unforgettable impression. She cared deeply for those around her; friends, family, neighbors, even strangers.

To know Doris was to feel seen, loved, and championed. Her legacy of laughter, love, and wild, wonderful strength lives on in every life she touched, but the world is dimmer without her spark.

Doris lived with unshakable faith in her Lord. Though her passing is heartbreaking, we take comfort in knowing she is in heaven, reunited with those who went before her, and resting in the arms of her Savior.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings "Jamie" Dickinson, Geraldine Overton, and Sharon Karnes; and her beloved son, Jonathan MacDonald.

She is survived by her husband Dave, children Zach and Liz, son-in-law Eric, daughter-in-law Wendy, grandchildren Sappho and Tenzing, countless dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Christ Reformed Presbyterian Church, Torrington, WY, with a graveside service in Morrill, NE. Lunch follows at 1 p.m., at La Familia Prado and a Celebration of Life at the MacDonald home, both in Torrington.

Though I never met Doris in person, I knew from my interactions with her through my work that Doris was an incredibly kind, efficient, patient, empathetic, competent woman! Her faith and love for God and others radiated from even the simplest interactions with patients, coworkers and practitioners alike. She is greatly missed.
