Doris was born July 16, 1918, to Alfred and Vina Mae (Peek) Surratt at Tecumseh, Neb. After the death of her mother, she moved with her family to the Lyman area in 1926 and attended a rural school. She married Arthur W. Spath, February 17, 1935, in Morrill. They celebrated 57 years of marriage. They farmed in the Lyman area until their retirement in 1976. At that time, they built a home in the Village of Lyman. She moved to LaGrange, Wyo., with her daughter and son-in-law June and Bill Yetter in 1998 and lived there for three years. She then moved into the Mitchell Care Center.
She was a member of the Kiowa Community Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and making special things for her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family was her greatest blessing.
She is survived by her daughter June Yetter of LaGrange, Wyo., son and daughter-in-law Howard and Virginia Spath of Gering, daughters and son-in-laws Genevieve and Ralph Lind of Morrill, and Virginia and David Kaufman of Gering, eleven grandchildren Glen, Scott and Kenneth Yetter, Kimberly Hill, Todd Spath, Shannon Schmidt, Tonya Burkhart, Tina Novak, Tisha Gage, Michael and Stephen Kaufman, twelve great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1991, parents, brothers Wilber, Kay, Gilbert, Hubert Surratt and two infant brothers, sisters Goldie Walker, Merle Masur, two infant grandsons, Walter Yetter and Kelly Spath. We will miss her immensely and she will be also missed by all who knew and loved her.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Doris taught my Sunday School class and was always a treasured friend to my parents (Lauren and Della Dykes). I still remember and appreciate all the BIBLE stories she told me. With heartfelt condolences.

Doris will always be in our hearts and memories. She was such a great friend and neighbor. We used to go to Scottsbuff and go window shopping when our kids were in school. My family and I have such wonderful memories of her and Art. I loved the time I spent with her at the Kiowa Community Church and the Ladies Group.
