Edith Mack Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edith Darlene Mack, who left this world on August 14, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on January 25, 1935, Edith lived a life marked by deep love, tireless energy, and unwavering service to others.

In 1935, she was born to Emerson and Lillie Buckley on a ranch south of Harrison, NE, in Sioux County, where she and her five siblings were raised. In 1952, she married Charles Mack, and together they had three sons: Gerry, Charles (Chuckie), and Steve. Her devotion to her family was unmatched-she was a wonderful mom, a loving grandma, a loyal sister, and a cherished friend to many.

In 1986, Edith moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where she became the manager of the Elks Club, a role she held with pride and passion for 14 years. Her hard work and dedication earned her the distinction of being nominated Elks Manager of the Year for the entire state of Nebraska-an honor that reflected not just her professional life, but the warmth and energy she brought to everything she did.

Edith was known for her kindness, her fierce love for the people in her life, and a legendary inability to sit still. Whether she was lending a helping hand, hosting family and friends, playing with her grandchildren, or simply making someone feel seen and special, she radiated joy and strength. Her work ethic was tireless, her heart always open.

Those who knew her will remember her as a pillar of grace and grit, someone who gave her all without ever asking for anything in return. Edith made the world better simply by being in it-and her legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire all who were blessed enough to know her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Lillie; her son, Chuckie; her sisters and husbands, Erma & Dan Barnes; Kathy & Jack Larson; Dorothy & Dale Jordan; and her daughter-in-law, Rita Mack.

She is survived by her two sons, Gerry (Karen) Mack and Steve (Gayle) Mack; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Scott) Bonifas, Jessica (Kevin) DeMarco, Katie (Justin) Staab, Joni (James) Dinville, Jordan Mack, and Kacey (Dan) Starr; and fifteen great-grandchildren: Taylor, Jamie, and Jacob Bonifas; Maverick DeMarco; Owen and Ellie Staab; Emersyn, Kooper, and Callen Dinville; Laynie, Ryker, and Harper Mack; and Bristol, Shane, and Devann Starr. She is also survived by her brothers, Junior (Hazel) Buckley and Jack (Rowena) Buckley, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who held a special place in her heart.

Funeral services to be held at Vine United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Saturday, August 30th at 10:00 AM, followed by a luncheon at the Church. Burial services will be held at the Harrison Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at the VFW from 2-5 PM. View service livecast at:

Eddie always greeted everyone with a smile. I had the opportunity to work with her through an accounting firm plus she fabulously planned & oversaw our daughter´s wedding that went without a hitch because of her great leadership & friendship. She was a lovely lady.
